Awesome website Geordie. Sorry it’s taken a whole me to leave a comment on your guest book.
You found a nook that’s not published now due to spam Mate, well done 🙂
Dickie Irwin was my uncle on my mothers side of the family, my mother was called Hilda Irwin and my grandparents lived on Salters Road in Gosforth. We as children didn’t see much of Dickie but when we did he entertained us all day, as far as I can remember he was a painter and decorator and at the time he was courting a lady who was a bus conductor. But I am going back to probably the 1950s so it is a long time ago.
Gary the Geordie director. Garry and Sheila from the Isle of White trip we have visited Southbank and Grangetown and found that the sign “believe in” is no longer there.
Author
Thanks Garry 🙂 … Ah was it not “believe in better” ? … I hope you and Sheila enjoyed the trip down memory lane anyway
🙂
You’ve got the best online website.
Exiled here in Portishead for the last 34 years.
Regularly back home to Rosehill
Other Geordies here though not many
A rare but classy few

Much appreciated Steve 🙂 …
Love the site — really individual friendly & lots to read!
Great site. Brought back some wonderful memories, especially of the teams of the early 50’s, with Wor Jackie, and Booby Mitchell, the Robledo Brothers, Jack Fairbrother, Frank Brennan, Ernie Taylor, etc etc. I was born in Brunel Terr which I think has now been demolished just a stones throw from Rye Hill, between Elswick Road and Scotswood Road. Now I am an actor in Largo, Florida. Love to all my fellow Geordies anywhere in the World. Thank you

Your Welcome David 🙂
Love the website. What a great idea! My Mum was a Geordie (Wallsend) and sadly she lost the accent down south; but I’ve only got to hear it again…… Keep the website going!
Only typed in geordie comediens to see if there was any mention of Dickie Irwin, saw him at Bambra’s, in the Bigg Market years ago and he came and did a stint at my parents 25th wedding anniversary. We laughed till our sides ached,.However a lovely website and a walk down memory lane.
Author

Hi Darren, I don’t know if you noticed but this is the guestbook section … you know, a section where you say things like “wow, brill site, absolutely loving it :), and then almost as an afterthought then say “oh and by the way would you consider including my site in your Geordie Sports section” … “you know what I Mean?” 😀
sorry didn’t realize which bit i was in
Author
No Problem Darren 🙂 except you still haven’t still put it right 🙂 lol … once you do I will link to your site from the Geordie sports section which will benefit you in SEO (Only because I think your NUFC / Toon forum looks cool, even though it is in it’s early stages 🙂 …
Great site by Geordies for Geordies
If you want a massive celebration for the 150th Anniversary of The Blaydon Races on 9th June 2012 in Newcastle and Gateshead go to our site at http://www.blaydonraces150.co.uk and sign the petition. Gan on!
Come across your website and I love it.
Please have a look at my site adaptedmaps.co.uk as I have an artwork on there that may be of interest to you – an adaptation of the Metro map. Wondering if you would like to get it on your site?
Keep up the good work lads.

Why That’s Canny Of Y’e Sandra 😀
I am from Blyth and living in the Shetland Islands. I have a web site that offers cheap international phone calls to anywhere in the world from the UK – Guaranteed…! Phone Busters UK – Who Are You Going To Call…?
Author
This should have been added to the Geordie businesses section but your forgiven. You do come from Blyth after all !! 😛
Aye! Canny stuff this!
I’ve been to the “Toon” 5x’s in the last 2yrs, and I can’t get enough of the people and the places.
Lots of famous rock musicians were born and raised in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and the surrounding suburbs. I’m on a quest to find the childhood homes of Mark Knopfler in Gosforth, and John McLaughlin’s in Whitley Bay. If it wasn’t for a Geordie (Chas Chandler), the world would never have known Jimi Hendrix!
I was born in Brooklyn, NY, but I truly appreciate the Geordies.
Cheers!

Pleased to meet you Charlie & thanks for the links – Much appreciated 🙂
welcome wor kid newcastle is the place to be
Hello,
I believe that John McLaughlin lived on Warkworth Avenue in Whitley Bay, which is off Norham Road. I do not know the number but I am fairly sure of the street. You could confirm it by looking at the electoral register.
Just found this and an looking forward to reading updates. Although I’m over every year, (from Chicago) it’s nice to be even more connected.
