Legendary & Very Proud Geordie Comedian Bobby Thompson Circa: 1984

Bobby Thompson – The Little Waster

Bobby Thompson was a legendary and very proud Geordie comedian in his beloved “Geordieland”.

Born in Penshaw he later moved to Whitley Bay in North Tyneside where he lived for the majority of his life. He rarely ventured outside of the region or appeared on TV.

Much of his comedy was based on the everyday circumstances of the people in his beloved North East.

His jokes about his wife, Debt, Poverty and of course his famous Mother In Law touched the collective funny bones of all Geordies in the north east of England.

A documentary film shot during his final years in which he speaks frankly about his problems with debt, dole and drink and the the famous old soldier stands out as a brilliantly funny epitaph which tells an account of his contribution to the Second World War, including an encounter in the chip shop.
