Illuminating Hadrian’s Wall Wins North East Tourism Event of the Year Award.

An event called Illuminating Hadrian’s Wall, which lit up whole length of Hadrian’s wall after the first torch was lit in Wallsend has been recognised by being named as the North East England Tourism Event of the Year 2010.

This fantastic spectacle was started at the Segedunum Roman Fort & Museum on the Wallsend riverside.

Hadrian’s Wall originally extended west from the town of Wallsend on the River Tyne to the shores of the Solway Firth, ending a short distance from the village of Bowness-on-Solway in Cumbria.
