The 2011 Wallsend Festival was held on the 2nd of July with events happening across the town centre and in and around Wallsend parks.
Following on from the success of the 10th anniversary festival in 2010, this years festival promised to be bigger and better, with new orienteering & tree climbing events along with the Scouts demonstrating outdoor crafts and pony trekking in the regenerated Wallsend Park, local bands playing at the Wallsend forum bandstand & a special wrist band entrance to a youth rock concert which was held at the Segedunum Roman fort.
Of course there was usual sideshows and rides dotted around the Wallsend town centre as well as special events prepared by the local wallsend businesses.

Sorry Michael, couldn’t see how a category would work without getting in the way of current events & news so instead there is now a family and friends section HERE

The main part of the park is still a total write off – we cannot see it being ready for events at the beginning of July. Activity levels on the playground works seem very low key and only 5 days a week less lunch and tea breaks.

Will Richardson Dees Park be ready for Festival events by July 2? It is currently in a total mess (regeneration) only a month away.
