Wallsend Remembers

The War Memorial Monument in Wallsend Town Centre was erected in remembrance of ex employees of Wigham Richardson & Swan and Hunter shipbuilders who volunteered to fight for and died during battles in the first and second World Wars.

The grade 2 listed structure (which was vandalised by thieves who stole the bronze plaques in June 2008) has had a makeover with both the replacement of the plaques and repairs made to the inscribed stone, which has been damaged by weather and time.
