I remember when it was first announced that Anthony Gormly was to design The Angel on top of the pit head baths at Team Collery all hell broke loose. People from far & wide had their say it would be hideous, awful etc,etc it would make the area a laughing stock, now the Gateshead Angel is The Angel of the North often thought to be in Newcastle.
I remember the weekend it was built I have photos and I have loved it ever since, there must not be a day when someone isn’t beside it.
It’s in my hometown and I Love It, it represents our heritage.
