Rock legend Gordon Sumner who was born and brought up in the town of Wallsend near Newcastle Upon Tyne, recently returned to the Geordie capital to unveil a huge portrait he has loaned to the Laing Art Gallery.

In the following video "Sting" talks about his emotional return to the region and reveals the reasons why he commissioned the artist Stephen Hannock to paint the portrait of the bridges, mining towns and villages surrounding Newcastle and what it actually depicts.
