The Iconic Gateshead Car Park which was immortalised in the 1970s Michael Caine gangster film Get Carter has now disappeared from the Geordie skyline.
The long overdue demolition of this cult concrete building (some would say monstrosity) which came to be known as the “Get Carter Car Park“, marks the beginning of Gateshead Town Centre’s Regeneration Plans which includes a new town square, new retail units, a student village with accommodation for 900 students and a large retail store, which will cost around an estimated £150 Million.
