Jarrow, South Tyneside

The town of Jarrow is located on the south side of the River Tyne in South Tyneside, near to South Shields & opposite the town of Wallsend.

Jarrow was once world renowned for it’s fantastic ship building skills, but these days is mostly remembered as being the starting point of the famous Jarrow March which was an organised march against massive unemployment in the Tyneside area in 1936.

It is also the home to Bede’s World, a museum dedicated to the life of the Venerable Bede, while Jarrow and Hebburn Athletics Club is famous for being the  club where Geordie sporting legends Brendan Foster & Steve Cram ran.

The following photo slideshow show pictures of Jarrow which will be added to from time to time.
