South Shields, South Tyneside

South Shields is a Geordie seaside town on the south side of the River Tyne in South Tyneside.

Apart from miles of pristine beaches, South Shields is also home to a Roman fort called Arbeia which was built to help supply the roman soldiers along Hadrian’s Wall.

South Shields beachfront includes sand dunes, grassy areas & loads of picnic areas as well as an Amusement Park which sits opposite Marine Park incorporating a childrens play park, a small boating lake & a mini steam train railway.

Following the South Tyneside coastline South you will be able to follow a breathtaking scenic coastal pathway, taking you past fantastic coves & shale beaches, culminating in a visit down a lift into the breathtaking Marsden Rock Pub, which is built into the cliff face and Souter Lighthouse at Lizard Point, Marsden which leads you out of South Tyneside into the village of Whitburn.

The following slideshow aims to provide you with photos of the town, the parks & the beaches, the fort and everywhere else 🙂 …

Photos will be constantly added to the slideshow over time.
