Saint Thomas the Martyr Church was completed in 1830 at the cost of £6000 and is one of the most prominent city centre landmarks. Located near the city hall and the Haymarket & adjacent to the Newcastle University, it is a 19th century Anglican re-foundation of a medieval chapel.
